Airplane! vs. Zero Hour!: A Comparison of Films →
“Airplane!, was a spoof-remake of Zero Hour!, a 1957 airplane disaster movie” - I knew this courtesy of Wikipedia, but hadn’t seen any of the original film, until now. Airplane! == “Flying High” in Australia…

nerd out, baby. half of this stuff was getting big (in Emacs-land) just as i stopped using Emacs (when i switched to a Mac). though sometimes, late at night, I pine for Emacs. I miss it. TextMate (and such) just isn’t doing it for me. and yet…

tip for young players fiddling with presence on...
So if you’ve been poking at UCME (CallManager Express) 4.1 in IOS 12.4(15)T and got a bit lost with the presence service not behaving as it should - none of your blf-speed-dials show up on the phones - try renumbering them from 1. ie. maybe previously you had something like this configured, because you wanted the bottom 2 buttons on the phone assigned to numbers:ephone 1 device-security-mode...
familiar things in unfamiliar places
On my last ride to in work on the 112 tram, we reached the SuperStopTM at the top end of Collins St. I watched a scraggly old man carefully drape an Australian flag across a rubbish bin, before picking up his plastic bags and walking off. A few passers-by looked nervously at it, before it blew off and fell in a crumpled heap on the ground. (via ajcos blog posts)
sand
I’ve been lost in a sea
of old documents:
- farewell cards
both from grade 6
and my first job
- old printouts
like a list of samples
from skinny puppy tracks
and what film they came from
it was one of the first things
I found on the net
somewhere in the early 90s
- an old, old, diary
with a 5 year gap in it
- manuals for devices
that I no longer own
- cards and postcards
from...
world party
…so for some reason I found myself staring at an ad on SBS, post-Rockwiz, for Steely Dan’s concert that’s happening sometime in the next lifetime, when it pointed out that they’re bringing World Party with them. If I wasn’t allergic to stadium gigs I’d be keen to see what Karl Wallinger’s up to - apparently he’s had a fairly odd time over the last...
comfort noise
The day after we moved in, I could hear the sounds of people playing sport in the park out the back - soccer perhaps, I didn’t look. It took me back to growing up in the sprawl of the south-eastern suburbs where there was an oval a couple of streets away. On a lazy weekend you’d hear the same background sound occasionally punctuated by an air horn. And so, while sport’s never...
first day on a brand new planet
on the first working day
of this home-loan lifestyle
i hopped on the tram
a line i used to take
a couple of years ago
and sat down
in an empty seat
opposite a girl
all dressed up in
red wool
to ward off the cold
she looked at me
and smiled
and i wondered
about the last time
anybody randomly smiled at me
just like that
later
as i hopped off the tram
and waited for the bus...

a museum of radioactive things
…and all of its sickening crimes
all day long
the passing of time
broken into the parts
between waiting
and calling
and waiting
and being called
and being told
that it’ll be ok
or maybe it won’t
but we’ll have to wait
and see
i’ve done everything
in my power
to keep these bastards
honest
but still
they find a way
to twist the knife
just to make sure
you’ll know
who’s wearing the trousers
around here.

IOS IPS 5.x with 128MB of RAM
Since IOS 12.4(11)T (and hence it’s also the long-awaited 12.4(15)T), Cisco are using the version 5.x format for IPS signature files. There’s some documentation about it here: IPS 5.x Signature Format Support and Usability Enhancements Getting Started with Cisco IOS IPS with 5.x Format Signatures
If your router (eg. an 877) only has 128MB of RAM, be careful when you configure this!...

Well, let’s see if this ipernity thing works. I’m glad I forked out for Picturesync all that time ago. (via ajcos blog posts)
